ABOUT THE WEBINAR:
Narcissism has become a ubiquitous buzzword in American sociopolitical discourse and pop psychology. Although many or most laypeople conceptualize the narcissistic character as impervious to criticism, effortlessly charismatic, and breathtakingly self-aggrandizing, psychological research paints a more complicated, variable, and insidiously dangerous portrait. Join Reed Maxwell, Ph.D., ABPP (Clinical) for a 2-hour foray into the complex psychopathology of narcissism.

Learning objectives:
  • Attendees will learn about two variants of pathological narcissism, as well as so-called "healthy" or normal narcissism
  • Attendees will learn how to go above and beyond the DSM-5 to assess and understand narcissistic psychopathology in clinical settings
  • Attendees will obtain a beginner's understanding of two empirically-supported psychodynamic psychotherapies for narcissistic personality disorder, specifically, and personality psychopathology, broadly
