About the Webinar:

Surveys by APA and MOPA have shown: Access to care and the promotion of equitable care are important values held by a majority of psychologists. Attending this webinar is essential for psychologists committed to providing equitable and effective care. It offers valuable insights into culturally informed practices that address systemic disparities and enhance therapeutic outcomes for Black families.
  • Address systemic disparities: Gain a deeper understanding of the impact of racism, discrimination, and other social determinants of health on the mental well-being of Black families.
  • Fulfill our ethical responsibility: Provide culturally competent care that is equitable, and respectful of diversity.
Please join Dr. Earl Turner  in a presentation on "Engaging Black Families in Culturally Responsive Treatment" that offers insights into culturally informed practices that address systemic disparities and enhance therapeutic outcomes for Black families. By understanding the unique cultural values, historical contexts, and lived experiences of these families, psychologists can build trust, foster stronger therapeutic alliances, and implement strategies that resonate with clients' needs.
Course objectives:

At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
  • Identify guiding principles of multicultural practice
  • Identify at least three challenges with engaging Black families
  • Apply the Family as Host model to working with Black families.

Please note: this webinar will be conducted via Zoom.  By registering for this webinar, you are agreeing to Zoom's privacy policy.
