About the Webinar:

DESCRIPTION
Referrals for assessments for autism spectrum disorders are placing increased pressure on psychologists to provide diagnoses and recommend services or accommodations. In this webinar, we will discuss potential contributors to the phenomenon of independent and functional adults who go to great lengths to obtain autism assessments and diagnoses. We also discuss ways to address these concerns when they arise with patients to avoid potential harm by overdiagnosis.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
1. Identify core autism spectrum features and symptoms
2. Apply the concept of base rates to patient endorsement of symptoms commonly mistaken for autism
3. Learn ways of discussing autism with independent and functional adults seeking an autism diagnosis.
