COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Dr. Peter Smith’s webinar offers more than a history lesson—it provides essential context for one of the most important shifts in modern psychological practice. By tracing the evolution of prescriptive authority (RxP), attendees will better understand how a once-controversial idea has become a practical, patient-centered solution to today’s mental health access crisis—especially in rural and underserved areas like many parts of Missouri. This session will highlight how prescribing psychologists uniquely integrate psychotherapy with thoughtful, conservative medication management, leading to more comprehensive and personalized care than traditional “med check” models. For psychologists, whether you support RxP, are undecided, or simply want to stay informed, this webinar equips you with the knowledge to engage in critical conversations about scope of practice, patient outcomes, and the future direction of the field.
