Missouri Psychological Association Continuing Education
Co-Sponsorship Policy and Procedures
The Missouri Psychological Association (MOPA) is a sponsor approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. The following policy governing co-sponsor relationships has been adopted and amended effective June 22, 1998. The following should guide the co-sponsor relationship.
A. The CE program shall be developed in conjunction with the co-sponsoring organization.
B. During pre-planning stages, the following should be co-developed by MOPA and the co-sponsoring organization:
1. Overview of the proposed program
a. Location, dates, time
b. Content
c. Qualified faculty with vitae
d. Teaching methods
2. Statement of educational objectives for the proposed program
C. MOPA will be responsible for and maintain control over the following concerning continuing education credits for psychologists:
1. Financial planning and record keeping
2. Program assessment and evaluation
3. Maintaining CE records of participants
4. Insuring control of the quality of this program
5. Preview of promotional materials before they are printed
D. Proposals for program co-sponsorship will be reviewed by MOPA's Continuing Education Committee. If the proposal meets CE standards, the co-sponsorship agreement will be signed and forwarded by MOPA.
E. CE credit hours will be awarded by MOPA on the basis of one contact hour for each 60 minutes of instruction or learning experience. Documentation of credit will be developed and awarded for each participant successfully completing program. The documentation will name both of the co-sponsors, program title, date, CE hours, presenter(s) names, and the following APA CE statement: “This program is co-sponsored by the Missouri Psychological Association and [name of co-sponsoring organization]. MOPA is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. MOPA maintains responsibility for the program."
F. [Co-sponsor] will pay a fee of $150 to the Missouri Psychological Association. To obtain CE credits, members of the Missouri Psychological Association who attend the program will pay no cost in addition to their fee for the program. Psychologists who are not members of the Missouri Psychological Association will pay a fee of $35 to MOPA in addition to their fee for the program.
