Mission Statement
The purpose of the Missouri Psychological Association is to advance psychology as a science, as a profession, and as a means of promoting human welfare. The purpose shall be furthered by the improvement of the qualifications and usefulness of psychologists through high standards of professional ethics, conduct, educational achievement; by the increase and diffusion of psychological knowledge through meetings, professional contacts, reports, papers, discussions and publications; and by the application of research findings to the promotion of the public welfare.
History
MOPA was incorporated in Jefferson City August 26, 1954. The initial address of the registered office was 4510 Maryland Street, St. Louis, MO. MOPA offices have moved several times through the years and central operations now reside in Springfield.
Current
MOPA is the American Psychological Association state-affiliate. We support psychologists of Missouri in their efforts to promote the psychological well being of all citizens and advance the profession of psychology through volunteer association members and professional staff.
